The Indian National Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s hug to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the no-confidence debate in the Lok Sabha created a social media meltdown and days after the hug and wink by Gandhi, Congress party workers assembled at Connaught Place, New Delhi on Tuesday and initiated a ‘free hug’ campaign with placards and banners of ‘remove enmity, save country’ and images of Rahul Gandhi hugging PM Modi.
Around 50 Congress Delhi workers hugged people who gathered to witness the scenario.

“Rahul Gandhi told Parliament that only love and compassion can build a nation. We are here to take his message to the people,†said Delhi Congress worker Aniruddh Sharma to news agency ANI.
“A hug is a way of giving love. But we also tell people that the idea of India lies in the fact that people from different religions should respect each other’s faith and live in harmony,†he said.
"We are taking his (Rahul) message forward," said Sharma, adding that Rahul hugged PM Modi to spread love.
The Delhi Congress is also strategising a plan to take the hug campaign forward by doing more gatherings at the several Metro stations.
There are plans to start a social media campaign as well.
