Rahul Gandhi in Berlin: Congress president criticises BJP-RSS for spreading 'hatred'

Addressing an Indian gathering at an event organised by the Indian Overseas Congress in Berlin, Congress president Rahul Gandhi said that the party's ideology of 'unity in diversity' came from the times of Guru Nanak Dev and accused the BJP-led NDA government of spreading hatred. Rahul Gandhi, who is on a second part of his four-day tour of the United Kingdom and Germany, added that long speeches were being given by the government in power while the farmers continued to commit suicides and the youngsters struggled to get employement and a secured future.

"You think, perhaps some of my thoughts come from Guru Nanak, but let me tell you all my thoughts come from the ideals of Guru Nanak," said Rahul.Rahul reiterated that "unity in diversity" is India’s strength.

“India’s strength is its ability to listen to the voice of all its people, especially the weakest. This is the belief of everyone one across all faiths,” pointed out Rahul Gandhi.Currently, everyone is talking of ‘development’, but the thoughts of Indians were 'developed’ years ago, from before the time of Guru Nanakji. Historiically, such people are there in every region.

The Congress president slammed the BJP-RSS ideologies and said that both BJP and RSS are willing to split the country by spreading hatred.

“This is what Congress stands for. It works for everyone and it is our duty to spread this idea. The current BJP government works differently. The members of BJP and RSS are willing to even sell and split the country. They have been spreading hatred. In contrast, the the job of the Congress is to unite people and this is something that we have proved by our actions”, Rahul Gandhi added.

“In China, which is our competitor, the government provides jobs to almost 25,000 youngsters every 24 hours. In contrast, the Indian government is able to provide jobs to only 450 youngsters. All that the BJP does is give lengthy speeches and split the country, while farmers are committing suicides and the youngsters are jobless and clueless.Rahul Gandhi pressed home the importance of moving ahead with everyone and not just a few.In his address, Rahul also praised and thanked the people of Punjab for supporting and choosing Congress in the last assembly election.

However, the speech, due to some technical glitch was not aired 'live,' the Congress stated.

Rahul Gandhi, currently on a five-day tour to Germany and the UK has been criticising the Narendra Modi-led government and his speech at the Bucerius Summer School in Hamburg in Germany on Wednesday triggered a massive uproar as the BJP demanded an apology and explanation.

"Rahul Gandhi does not leave any moment to insult India. We forgive you usually, but what you spoke yesterday can have dangerous implications, so we want you to explain this time," BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said.

The Congress chief had said that the BJP governement does not care about the Dalits and tribals and excluded them from the development plannings. He event gave the example of the Islamic State (ISIS) and said that the exluding large number of people could lead to creation of these king of groups.
