Earlier, Rahul Gandhi posted a tweet where he termed PM Narendra Modi as ‘Prime Minister of RSS’. The Congress leader had alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was lying to the country on the issue of detention camps in Assam. The BJP in a press conference hit out at Rahul by calling him, ‘sardar (chief) of lies.’
BJP’s spokesperson Sambit Patra said that the Congress had opened three detention centres in Assam back in 2012. “UPA Govt in 2012 had asked the Assam Govt of Tarun Gogoi to set up detention centres. The number of foreigners kept in 3 detention centres opened in Golpara, Kokrajhar and Silchar are as follows: Golpara: 66 Kokrajhar: 32 Silchar: 20,” Patra added while giving out the details of the then central government’s decision.
However, the Congress earlier had slammed PM and posted screenshots of media reports which had claimed that detention centres are built in Navi Mumbai and Assam’s Goalpara.
