Railway Hotel Tender Case: CBI files charge sheet against 14 accused

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on late Monday filed charge sheet against 14 accused in the railway hotel tender case, which included the names of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and his wife Rabri Devi among others.

The CBI investigation had also revealed that Lalu Yadav, who was the then railway minister, knew about the transfer of the BNR Hotels for its management at Ranchi and Puri, and allegedly conspired with the officials of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).

On April 10, the CBI had conducted raids on the Patna residence of Rabri Devi, along with interrogating her son and former Bihar deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, who is one of the accused in the alleged corruption case.

The CBI had registered a case against Yadav, Devi, and son Tejashwi earlier in July 2017 under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

The railway hotel tender case pertains to irregularities in awarding the tender for development, maintenance, and operation of the BNR Hotels in Ranchi and Puri during Yadav’s tenure as the Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009.
