Railways directs zonal offices to discontinue pasting reservation charts on train coaches from March 1

Railways, in a statement, said that it would be commencing its pilot project on stations ranked at erstwhile A1, A & B category stations as a pilot project for 6 months starting from 1st March, 2018. The department added that it will continue to show reservation charts at the platforms.

Ministry of Railways on Friday directed its zonal offices to discontinue pasting of reservation charts on train coaches for next six months. 

Railways, in a statement, said that it would be commencing its pilot project on stations ranked at erstwhile A1, A & B category stations as a pilot project for 6 months starting from 1st March, 2018. The department added that it will continue to show reservation charts at the platforms.

The department has classified its stations on the basis of income into A1, A, B, C, D, E and F categories. The statement added that the practice will be discontinued at the stations with plasma screens. 

“At those stations where electronic charts display plasma has been installed and the same is functioning properly, physical reservation charts at such platforms can be stopped,” the statement read.

Earlier, the department had discontinued pasting of reservation charts at New Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Mumbai Central, Chennai Central, Howrah and Sealdah stations.
