As the festivals like Diwali and Chhath are in the offing, Railways has taken slew of measures to manage crowd at the New Delhi Railway Station. The Railways does not want to take any chances especially after Elphinstone Road stampede in Mumbai.
Railways has decided to put up extra ticket counters, control room for keeping tight vigil on crowd movement, mobile toilets and drinking water and food stalls.
The Railways has also said that they will make sure that no last-minute platform changes for train are announced.
As per report, New Delhi Railway Station is set to witness almost six lakh passengers on daily basis during the festivals.
Special duty officers will also be deployed at the station for crowd management at five station in Delhi including Anand Vihar Terminal, Old Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin and Sarai Rohilla stations.
The Northern Railway will also deploy civil defence personnel, apart from Railway Police Force (RPF) officers, on foot overbridges to control crowd movement.
