Assembly Elections Results 2018: Congress set to form government in Rajasthan

Rajasthan Election Result 2018 Live Updates: So it has come down this. After months of intense electioneering in the desert state, the counting of votes for the 199 of the 200-Rajasthan Assembly election results will start from 8 am. Will Vasundhara Raje break the jinx of the state voting the incumbent out or Congress wrest power from the BJP? The answers will be out today as Election Commission is set to announce the results. As many as 2,274 candidates including 187 women were in the fray for 199 out of the 200 assembly constituencies in the state. This is our live blog for the Rajasthan Assembly election results 2018 and we will keep you updated with the latest trends and constituency-wise results as early as they come. #6:00 pm: BJP candidate Sanjay Sharma wins Alwar Urban constituency in Rajasthan, defeats Congress candidate Shweta Saini by 22,008 votes.

#2:15 pm: Congress candidate JP Chandelia leading with 72670 votes in Pilani constituency against BJP's Kailash Chand.

#2:10 pm: BREAKING: Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has defeated BJP rebel and Congress candidate Manvendra Singh from Jhalrapatan constituency.

#2:00 pm: According to ECI, Congress vote share is 39.3% in Rajasthan till now. BJP is at 38.4%. BSP: 4.3%.

#1:05 pm: Congress reaches out to independents: We are moving towards a full majority and I am sure it will be clear once final numbers are in, but still we welcome all like-minded and anti-BJP parties to support us and we are in touch, says Sachin Pilot.

#1:00 pm: Rajasthan is slipping from Congress' hand as BJP stretches tally. The Saffron party is leading in 86 seats against the Congress' 91. Others would have a big say in government formation as they are leading in 22 seats.

#7:20 am: Congress in action: Congress has sent general Secretary KC Venugopal to Rajasthan as party's supervisor. 

#7:10 am: Battle of the heavyweights: Congress has fielded Manvendra Singh against Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje in Jhalrapatan. The BJP has pitted state minister Yunus Khan to take on Sachin Pilot in Muslim-dominated Tonk. So Tonk and Jhalrapatan are the two hot seats. The other one is Sardarpura Assembly constituency in Jodhpur from where Ashok Gehlot is contesting.

#7:00 am: 4,77,89,815 voters sealed their verdict in EVMs on December 7: According to the State Election Commission, there are 4,77,89,815 voters in the state among whom, 2,28,28,018 are female and 2,49,61,560 male voters. There are 1,16,944 service voters whereas 15 NRI electors and 222 third gender electors in the state. Voter turnout recorded till 5 PM is 72.7 per cent.

#6:50 am: 2,274 Candidates in the fray: As many as 2,274 candidates including 187 women were in the fray for 199 out of the 200 assembly constituencies in the state. The election in Alwar district's Ramgarh constituency has been postponed due to the death of Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP) candidate Laxman Singh.

#6:40 am: What News Nation Exit Poll predicted: According to the News Nation exit poll, Congress is likely to get a clear majority with 99-103 seats against the BJP's 89-93. Vasundhara Raje-led BJP's vote share is expected to be 39 per cent while the Congress, taking a giant leap forward, is predicted to win 44 per cent of the total vote share in the desert state.
