Rajasthan hacking: Mamata Banerjee announces Rs 3 lakh ex gratia for victim’s family (File Photo)

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday announced ex gratia amount of Rs 3 lakh for family of Afrajul Khan, a migrant worker from Malda district, who was hacked and charred to death in Rajasthan’s Rajasamand on Thursday.

The West Bengal chief minister also announced a job for one of his family members.

Banerjee in a tweet had described the incident as a ‘very sad’ one. She said, “Afrajul Khan of Malda of our state was brutally killed. His family is totally helpless.”

She further added, “As a small help to the bereaved family, our government has decided to provide Rs 3 lakh to the family and also one job to the eligible person of the victim’s family.”

The West Bengal chief minister also assured to provide all support to the family. She further added, “I am sending our team of Ministers and MPs to visit the family.”

On Thursday, a Afrajul was hacked and burnt to death by a man in Rajasthan. The barbaric act was recorded by the killer’s assist.

The video made round on the social media. In the video, the accused can be seen beating the Afrajul and later setting him on fire.

Rajasthan government has formed a special investigation team to investigate the killing.
