Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said that a help of minimum Rs 1 Crore will be given to families of all the jawans who are martyred while serving nation. He added that 5 new battalions will be added to Rapid Action Force and they will become fully functional from January 2018.

"The rapid action force (RAF) contributes not only to the maintenance of peace and stability of the country but also plays an important part in the economic progress of the nation," said Rajnath.

Singh praised the role of RAF, a specialised force of CRPF, for quelling riot and riot like situations and enforcing peace in the troubled regions of the country.

The Minister stressed upon RAF's strategy of minimal use of force and called upon the police forces to bank on the use if civilised force instead of brute force.

Rajnath was attending 25th anniversary celebration of RAF in Meerut on Saturday.
