Rakshabandhan, the festival of the beautiful bond between brother and sister, will only be celebrated for two and hour this year. The auspicious day is being shrouded by the lunar eclipse, which is considered ominous in Hindu religion.
The ritual is observed on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Shravan, on which sisters tie the sacred Rakhi string on their brother's wrists, and pray for their long lives. In turn, the brother vows to protect her sister any trouble that comes her way and gifts her a loving present.

According to Hindu beliefs, no important task should be performed during the lunar eclipse. Last time Rakshabandhan and lunar eclipse fell on the same day was in 2005. It was considered very inauspicious occasion.
