It is believed that Lord Rama is an avatar of lord Vishnu. Rama Navmi is a part of Chaitra Navratri. During the nine days of Navratri, devotees worship different avatars of Goddess Durga and keep a fast. The customs vary from people to people according to the region. Devotees end their fast on a ninth day by offering prayers and performing aartis. 

Rama Navmi 2017 will be celebrated on April fifth this year. Rama Navmi is celebrated on the last day of the nine long Navratri celebration.

- Ram Navami falls on the 5th of April.

-Devotees offer ‘halva’ and ‘poori’ and by serving the ‘prasad’ to God and nine little girls who are considered to be the nine avatars of Goddess Durga.
