Rare archival assets of All India Radio and Doordarshan to on sale

Priceless recordings consisting of those of maestros Ustad Bismillah Khan, M S Subbulakshmi, Begum Akhtar, M Balamuralikrishna and epic Ramcharitmanas, among others present with Prasar Bharati archives will be available on a counter at Akashwani Bhawan.

The sales counter of Prasar Bharati was inaugurated this morning by S C Panda, CEO Prasar Bharati and F Sheheryar, DG AIR, a statement said on Thursday.

Located on the Akashvani Bhawan premises on New Delhi’s Parliament Street, this newly-built structure is expected to fulfill the objectives of bringing the rare archival assets of All India Radio and Doordarshan to public domain through its commercially released ACDs, DVDs and VCDs.

The Prasar Bharati Archives comprising the treasure trove of authentic audio-visual archival titles of both All India Radio and Doordarshan is one of the biggest Archives in the International broadcasting and telecasting network.

The Prasar Bharati Archives began its journey of showcasing its many precious nuggets in 2003.

This rich archival splendor consists of the recordings of Ramacharitmanas, Bharat Ek Khoj, Ustad Bismillah Khan, Vidushi M S Subbulakshmi, Begum Akhtar, M Balamuralikrishna and many other renowned maestros, the statement added.
