Rashmi Thackeray, wife of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, has been named as the new Editor of 'Saamana' Group. It is to be noted that Saamana is the mouthpiece of Shiv Sena founded on January 23, 1983 with the late Bala Saheb Thackeray as its editor. It’s Hindi version 'Dopahar Ka Saamana' came into the existence on February 23, 1993.

According to a report of the news agency IANS, the unprecedented move of naming Rashmi Thackeray as the editor of Saamana was announced in the newspapers on Sunday by the group publisher Rajendra M Bhagwat with names of the other Trustees as Subhash R Desai and Liladhar B Dake.

“As Rashmi Thackeray as now been assigned the onerous responsibility, she will take it up earnestly,” IANS quoted a Shiv Sena leader as saying. However, the party leader declined to elaborate further.

However, Uddhav Thackeray’s close confidante Sanjay Raut, who is also a Rajya Sabha Member, will continue to be the group executive editor. This means he will continue to pen his famed fiery edits and commentaries.

It is worth mentioning here that 'Saamana' Group is run by Prabodhan Prakashan.
