Controversial Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sakshi Maharaj has once again spewed the “communal venom”. In his latest shocker ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2018, Maharaj said that if Delhi’s Jama Masjid is razed, idols of Hindu deities would be found. Speaking to reporters in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao, the infamous BJP leader said that he is ready to be handed to death if this doesn’t prove to be true.

"The first statement I made in Mathura after entering politics was: Let Ayodhya, Mathura and Kashi be and demolish Delhi's Jama Masjid. If you don't find Hindu idols beneath its staircase, you are welcome to hang me,” the BJP leader said.

Maharaj claimed that he stands by the statement he made several years ago in Mathura and claimed that temples were destroyed and replaced by mosques during the Mughal regime.

"I am not backing out from my statement made several years ago in Mathura. During the Mughal regime, temples were destroyed and damaged in large numbers and replaced by mosques," he said.

One of India’s largest mosque, the Jama Masjid in Delhi was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan between 1644 and 1656.

The firebrand BJP MP from Unnao has a habit of making controversial statements, especially when its related to religion. In January 2015, he had advised Hindu women to give birth to four children to safeguard the Hinduism. Later in the same year, he had proclaimed himself a “true Muslim” and Prophet Mohammed a “great Yogi”.
