Bollywood Actress Reema Lagoo passes away at the age of 59

Reema Lagoo, who became a household name in 90's with her roles in serials like 'Tu Tu Main Main' and 'Shrimaan Shrimati' passed away at the age of 59 due to a cardiac arrest. The time of veteran actress' demise was 3 AM on Thursday. Lagoo complained of chest pain on Wednesday night and was rushed to Kokilaben hospital, a hospital official said. 

"We will issue a health report later in the day, after consulting with her family,"  hospital's Executive Director Ram Naraian told PTI.

Lagoo's son-in-law Vinay Waikul said, "She was complaining of chest pain so we took her to the hospital around 1 AM. She passed away due to a heart attack around 3.15 AM. She was perfectly fine and had no health issues...so it is really shocking for all us that she is no more with us."

She is survived by daughter Mrunmayee, who is also a theatre and film actress and theatre director. Lagoo has worked in superhit films like "Maine PyarKiya", "Saajan", "Vaastav, "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" and, "Hum Saath-Saath Hain" among others. Her acting career spanned over four decades and she was last seen in the television show "Naamkaran", aired on Star Plus.

Reema has been seen and noticed a discernible change in the portrayal of mothers on the big screen. In movies like 'Hum Aapke Ke Hain Kaun' or 'Maine Pyar Kiya', the role of a mother. She has the unique record of playing to all the top 3 Khans of the industry – Salman, Aamir and Shahrukh. Most Suraj Barjatya films featured her as a doting mother in Hum Apke Hain Kaun, Maine Pyar Kiya and several others.

The actress was born on May 18 in 1958 and appeared in Marathi, Hindi films and television shows, serving the industry for nearly four decades.
