New Delhi:

The BJP-led Central government informed the Supreme Court that it cannot allow Rohingya Muslims to stay in India as refugees since they pose a threat to the national security and could be used by foreign and domestic foreign terror groups to create chaos in the country on Thursday.

The Ministry of Home Affairs in an affidavit file in the apex court has said that intelligence inputs have suggested that Rohingyas are linked with various terror groups.

The Centre has claimed that Rohingya militant groups are active in Jammu, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mewat.

In the affidavit the Centre has also claimed that the Rohingya Muslims can be used as cadres by ISIS.

The affidavit says, “No illegal immigrant has the right to stay in India. National interest warrants their deportation.”

Earlier this week, the United Nations' high commissioner for human rights Zeid Ra'ad al-Hussein had criticised India for wanting to deport Rohingya refugees.

Earlier, Home Minister Rajnath Singh had also termed Rohingya Muslims a threat to national security.

"I have already cleared our stand with regard to illegal immigrants. We cannot rule out the possibility of security threat," Singh had said.

Supreme Court will hear a plea filed by two Rohingya immigrants — Mohammad Salimullah and Mohammad Shaqir — challenging the government’s decision to deport the immigrants back to Myanmar.

The plea was filed by senior advocate Prashant Bhushan on behalf of the two Rohingya immigrants.
