BJP MP Roopa Ganguly defends her rape statement, says ‘15 days too long’ to be raped in West Bengal

An FIR has been filed against Actor turned Politician and BJP MP from West Wengal Roopa Ganguly by Trinamool Congress workers against her statement that in Mamta Banerjee governed state “girls can’t survive 15 days without being raped.”

However, she defended her statement and further said, “in fact, 15 days is too long time.”

Roopa on Friday dared West Bengal government and Congress to send the ladies of their house in West Bengal and tell her if the can survive for 15 days.

“I dare all the parties, the ones who keep flattering the West Bengal government and the Congress, to send their daughters, sisters-in-law, wives to Bengal, without taking any hospitality from Mamata Banerjee,” she told ANI. “If they are able to survive there for 15 days without getting raped, then tell me.”

Refuting her statement, Trinamool Congress asked her how many times she has faced what ever she is claiming.

"Before accusing the entire state... she should also speak out how many times she has been raped in Bengal, then it will be realised what is the truth behind this utterance," said minister Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay.

Her remark came in wake of increasing unrest in West Bengal in districts of Darjeeling and West 24 Pargnas.
