The ‘God of Cricket’ Sachin Tendulkar on Tuesday took to facebook on the occassion of Gudi padwyachi to post a video. Indian cricketer Sachin captioned "Gudi padwyachi hardik shubheccha #GudiPadwa" on the occassion of the Marathi festival, Gudi Padwa, that commemorates the beginning of the new year for Maharashtrians.
In the video Sachin is seen performing puja with his wife Anjali and ends with a message in Marathi, "Wishing everyone a great Gudi Padwa, it has been a great beginning to the new year, congratulations to the Indian Team!".
Maharashtra adds its own flavor to the celebration with the festivities of Gudi Padwa, which also marks the commencement of the Sping season in many parts of the country. This day also marks the end of one harvest season and the beginning of another.
Gudi Padwa marks the arrival of the spring season or the ‘Vasant’ season. In other parts of the country, it is celebrated as Ugadi or Yugadi in parts of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Where else the Sindhi community celebrates the festival of ‘Cheti Chand’ on this day.
