New Delhi:
New year may bring troubles for Salman Khan as the CJM court in Jodhpur is all set to pronounce its verdict in the Arms Act case against the Bollywood actor on Wednesday, January 18. If convicted, Salman Khan could face imprisonment for seven years.
While fixing the date of verdict, the court had asked Salman Khan to be present on that date. On January 9, the court of chief judicial magistrate fixed the date of verdict after the final arguments from both the sides were completed.
Magistrate Dalpat Singh Rajpurohit directed Mr. Khan to be present in the court during pronouncement of the order. Final arguments of the case had started on December 9 last year.
The case so far:
Salman Khan has been accused in two cases of black buck poaching. Though the High Court has acquitted Salman in both the cases, both these matters are currently in Supreme Court.
The verdict in black buck poaching case is yet to be pronounced. Salman's pistol was stolen from his hotel room, however, a police official had recovered it and handed it over to the actor.
There are still some doubts about these weapons being sent to Mumbai. Both the sides are now making this a base.
Salman may face jail:
A person may get 1-3 years imprisonment for possessing illegal arms. If found guilty of using these arms for poaching may land a person in jail for 7 years.
What is Salman Khan's Arms Act case:
A case against Salman Khan had been registered under the Arms Act by police in October 1998 for alleged use and possession of arms with expired license during alleged poaching of two blackbucks in Kankani village. The case was filed by the forest department.
