International Women's Day: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday signed-off from his social media accounts and handed it over to "seven women achievers" of the country who will share their life's journeys through his accounts throughout the day. He also saluted the Nari Shakti through a series of tweet.

In a series of tweet, PM Modi said, "Greetings on International Women’s Day! We salute the spirit and accomplishments of our Nari Shakti. As I’d said a few days ago, I’m signing off. Through the day, seven women achievers will share their life journeys and perhaps interact with you through my social media accounts."

"India has outstanding women achievers in all parts of the nation. These women have done great work in a wide range of sectors. Their struggles and aspirations motivate millions. Let us keep celebrating the achievements of such women and learning from them," he added.

Take a look:

Earlier, on Monday, PM Modi had said that he was thinking to give up using social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.

However, on Tuesday, the Prime Minister ended the suspense over 'giving up' social media. He said, "This Women's Day, I will give away my social media accounts to women whose life & work inspire us. This will help them ignite motivation in millions. Are you such a woman or do you know such inspiring women? Share such stories using."

Google Doodle also celebrated International Women’s Day, which is celebrated on the 8th March every year, with a special animated video highlighting the achievements of women across the world. The animated video from Google displays the struggle for gender equality and the legacy of equal rights for women.

International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8 of every year. The day also marks the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and platform for action which recognised the most progressive roadmap for the empowerment of women across the globe.
