After nearly a year of protests and nationwide outcry, sanitary napkins were finally exempted from Goods and Services Tax (GST) on Saturday.
“Sanitary napkins will be exempted from Goods & Services Tax," Finance Minister Piyush Goyal told reporters following the GST council meet in New Delhi on Saturday.
Twitterati reacted to the decision and praised the government and gave it and applauding welcome ‘hug’.
