Dramatic scenes were witnessed in the Rajya Sabha on Monday after a weeping AIADMK member Sasikala Pushpa made stunning allegations saying there was a threat to her life. "Will the government save me? I need protection, there is a threat to my life," the Tamil Nadu lawmaker said minutes before Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK General Secretary Jayalalithaa announced that she had been sacked for embarrassing the party.

AIADMK's RS MP Sasikala Pushpa has been “sacked for bringing ill fame to the party,” said Jayalalithaa. "If a leader can slap an MP, anything can happen. I need the government's protection. I am not safe in Tamil Nadu," said Pushpa, without taking names.

Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu said: "If someone has a feedback about their security, it's best for them to write to the chairman."

Deputy Speaker PJ Kurien said: "We will do the needful. I can assure on behalf of the honourable chairman (vice president Hamid Ansari), we will take care of this."

This comes after Pushpa had a brawl with an MP of the rival DMK, Trichy Siva, at the Delhi airport during security check. Both the leaders were thrown out of a flight following the brawl on Saturday. "I am being compelled to resign from a parliamentary post," she complained in the Rajya Sabha.
