Dozens of Youth have been brought back and handed over to the parents this year by security forces after proper counseling. Even at the Encounter sites, Security forces always ask local militants to surrender and give them a chance to come back to the mainstream. It has worked at many Instances. DG Police Dilbagh Singh says that we have managed to get 16 boys back who had become terrorists in 2020 and made them meet their parents again. And we will keep trying to bring all those boys who have lost their way to bring them back to the mainstream. We tell them this is a path of disaster and destruction and they need to make their lives better. They need to live to do that.’’

The Army and Jammu Kashmir Police have been at the forefront. Whenever a youth goes missing in the valley, the families mostly file reports with the police. And security agencies try their best to trace the boys to bring them back. If the boys have already joined the outfits, then security forces get in touch with the families to counsel other children, youth and relatives of the family to be away from all this. It has worked tremendously this year. With recruitment figures going down at a very fast rate. Even today, three youths were arrested in Ganderbal who were about to Join the Militant ranks in the area. Police and army Intervention managed to get them back.
Khalil Poswal,SSP Ganderbal today while speaking to media said ‘’We got an input about a group which is associated with HM and is trying to recruit the youth from here, we were able to zero in and we arrested three youth who were getting motivated through social media, they were about to leave and before that only we got the information and if they had gone, it would have been terrible and they would have been killed in an encounter. ‘’ In the last one year, a lot of videos went viral on social networking where families of the youth who had gone missing were begging and pleading their children to return. While in some cases, security forces managed to get the youth back, in many others they just could not.
