Joint security forces on Tuesday arrested a senior woman Naxal leader along with 15 other CPI-Maoist cadres, who were wanted for more than three dozen incidents of violence, from Jharkhand’s Giridih district. At least 300 Aadhar cards have been seized from the possession of the arrested woman Maoist leader.
The arrested Maoist leader has been identified as Geeta. “She carried a reward of Rs 15 lakhs on her head,” said a senior IPS officer not willing to be named.
He denied revealing anything further about the Aadhar cards and the arrested cadres.
The IPS officer added that other 15 Naxal workers arrested are regular armed cadre of the banned left wing extremist outfit. “The are regular cadres and some are local commanders. We are verifying their ranks and positions in banned organisation,” added the officer.
