Sexual harassment at Congress’ Social Media office; BJP demands action

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday demanded registration of an FIR in the case of alleged "sexual harassment" of a girl at the social media office of the Congress in Delhi.

BJP leader and parliamentarian from Delhi, Meenakshi Lekhi claimed that a former social media team member of Congress party has filed a complaint against a co-worker. Lekhi claimed that the accused was under the direct supervision of the party social media in-charge.

"A former social media team member of Congress party has filed a complaint against a co-worker who works under direct supervision of @divyaspandana, social media in-charge of Congress party," the BJP leader said in a tweet.

Lekhi also appealed the Delhi police to ensure the safety of the girl, who had filed the complaint of sexual harassment.

"We appeal to Delhi Police to register an FIR and also ensure the safety of a girl who has complained of sexual harassment at the Social Media office of Congress party," the BJP MP added.

In response to the allegations, Congress social media head Divya Spandana released a detailed statement and said that the complaint committee of the party didn't receive any complaint from the former worker who had alleged "sexual harassment".

Spandana said that they had approached the former employee and were waiting for her response. She said that as per their information the FIR contained allegations of "immoral behaviour" and "intrusion of privacy" against the current employee.
