Sharad echoes rebellion by saying he stands with grand alliance; JD(U) asks him to refrain from crossing limits

Sharad Yadav says entire Opposition disappointed over alliance failure in Bihar

The political storm in Bihar after Nitish Kumar’s decision to break alliance with RJD and join hands with BJP on Thursday appeared moving towards JD(U) separation from its senior leader Sharad Yadav.

Yadav who started his three-day Jan Samvad Yatra to meet the people of Bihar to discuss the consequence of Kumar’s withdrawal from the grand alliance accused him of breaking people’s trust by forging an alliance with BJP.

“A vote is trust, promises made to people are a trust and if that trust breaks democracy will ruin,” said Yadav.

Sharad Yadav hinting split in the party said there are two Janta Dal and he remained with the grand alliance, which was formed among the RJD, JD(U) and the Congress.

“People of the Sarkari (official) Janata Dal have become the Chief Minister and Ministers in Patna and then there is the real Janata Dal among the masses," Sharad Yadav said.

He further added that entire opposition is disappointed with alliance failure and even some people from NDA didn’t like this.

Reacting to Yadav’s rebellious statements, JDU spokesperson KC Tyagi advised him to not cross “limits”

“The political language being used by him is very objectionable and uncomfortable for the party president (Nitish Kumar) and the government (of Bihar). It will be better if he puts his point of view at the party’s national executive on August 19. We will ask him to refrain from making statements which crosses limits,” Tyagi said.

According to a report published in the Hindustan times, Sharad Yadav enjoys the support of nearly 20 MLAs and any split will put the fate of JDU-BJP government in danger.

“It is true that nearly 20 legislators are with us, but in case of split in the JD (U), their membership of the Bihar legislature will be in danger. We don’t want that to happen. Time will tell who is where,” HT quoted JD(U) leader Arun Kumar Srivastava who was sacked for his alleged role in Gujarat Rajya Sabha elections as saying.
