Sharad Yadav faction of the Janata Dal (United) today filed a fresh claim before the Election Commission for the party’s symbol on Tuesday.
However, the Election Commision has refused to take cognizance of its previous plea citing lack of documents to support its assertion.
In the application filed before the Election Commission, Yadav’s faction also registered its protest against its decision, claiming it was based on ‘hyper technical’ ground and the commission should have allowed them a hearing.
Arun Kumar Shrivastava, a close aide of Yadav said, “The party’s national executive will meet in the national capital on Sunday.”
Shrivastava claimed that on Sunday people will see the party’s support for Yadav and most of the state’s party unit are with Kumar.
“On September 17 how much support Yadav has in the party will be clear. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar strayed from the party’s avowed position and betrayed by joining hands of the BJP,” added Shrivastava.
