New Delhi:

Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Friday once again targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the demand for special law to allow the construction of a Ram temple at Ayodhya. "We brought down the Babri mosque in 17 minutes, so how much time for a law?" Raut said while interacting with reporters.

"Humne 17 minute mein Babri tod di, to kanoon banane mein kitna time lagta hai? Rashtrapati Bhavan se lekar UP tak BJP ki sarkar hai. Rajya Sabha mein aise bahot sansad hai jo Ram mandir ke saath khade rahenge, jo virodh karega uska desh mai ghumna mushkil hoga.” (“We brought down Babri in 17 minutes. How much time does it take to draw up papers? If you talk about an ordinance, then from the President's House to Uttar Pradesh, it is the BJP all the way. What else do you want?” Raut told reporters.

Earlier this week, Raut had said the Ram temple issue was not a subject for the courts but a subject of sentiment and national honour and that his party's campaign will continue for the same.

"The Shiv Sena is committed to the construction of Ram temple. We have struggled for it. The temple is not the subject of courts but of sentiments and national honour," Raut said.

"Our headquarters is in Mumbai but we will continue to struggle for the temple," he added.

His party chief Uddhav Thackeray will visit Ayodhya this weekend and will attend a programme at Lakshman Kila and attend 'saryu aarti'. Uddhav will pay obeisance at Ram temple on November 25 and will participate in 'jan samvad' at Gulab Bari.

The Babri mosque in Ayodhya was demolished by hundreds of  Hindu activists on December 6, 1992, who believed it was built on the ruins of an ancient temple marking the birthplace of Lord Ram.
