Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah on Wednesday advocated that everyone living in the state should learn its language Kannada. He said that all the schools in the state should teach Kannada.
"Everyone who lives here is a Kannadiga. Whoever lives in Karnataka should learn Kannada and make their children learn it too," said Siddaramaiah.
However, Siddaramaiah said that he is not against any language.
"I am not against learning any language. But if you don't learn Kannada, it means you're showing disrespect to the language," said Karnataka CM.
Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah was speaking in Bengaluru on 62nd Karnataka Rajyotsava.
There have been many protests in the state of Karnataka against Hindi signboards at Metro stations.
Earlier, Siddaramaiah wrote to Urban Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar over Hindi signages in Namma Metro. Siddaramaiah has suggested to remove the Hindi signboards in Namma Metro.
