The CPI(M) and the DMK will contest the forthcoming elections in Tamil Nadu together, announced Left leader Sitaram Yechury on Tuesday.Â
"We have decided today that in Tamil Nadu we will be with the DMK in the forthcoming elections. We are together on the issue of saving the unity, integrity and harmony of the people of India and the country's constitutional institutions," Yechury said. Â

While the CPI had already announced its decision to join the DMK-Congress alliance, the CPI (M) had remained undecided on the tie-up for a long time.
