Maa Katyayani is the sixth form of the nine forms of Goddess Durga also known as Navdurga and is worshipped for early marriage and love marriage. Maa Katyayani is traditionally worshipped on the sixth day of Navratra, but due to special auspicious 10-day long Navratras this year, Maa Katyayani will be worshipped on October 7.
According to scriptures, Goddess Durga took the form of Katyayani to annihilate the demon Mahishasure. Katyayani is fiercest facet of Goddess Durga as she appears as a Warrior Goddess.

Seated riding a powerful lion, she is depicted carrying a sword and the lotus flower in her right hands while keeping her right hands abhaya and varada mudras.
In her sixth form as Goddess Katyayani, Maa is worshipped by young unmarried girls for early nuptial, as it is believed that in mythological times Gopis used to pray to Devi Katyayani for Lord Krishna.
