Sonia Gandhi offers to quit, Rahul Gandhi questions timing of letter for sweep changes

New Delhi:

Sonia Gandhi on Monday offered to quit post of interim Congress President and asked the Congress Working Committee to begin the process for selecting a new party president. Amidst the ongoing leadership issues in Congress, the Congress Working Committee meeting began today wherein Sonia Gandhi showed her willingness to continue as Congress interim chief and ask to begin process for selection of new chief.

Congress General Secretary K .C Venugopal read out this message of Sonia Gandhi. However, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh registered his disapproval for such decision.Former PM Manmohan Singh and A.K Antony raised questions over the timing of letter demanding leadership changes in party.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also questioned the timing of the letter for sweeping changes from top to bottom. He said that the letter came at a time when the party was facing crucial crisis in Rajasthan and the interim nchief of party was unwell. The Congress Working Committee meetimng is underway now.
