Congress President Sonia Gandhi has responded to medication for treatment of her infection and resumed physiotherapy for her shoulder injury, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, where she is admitted, said on Friday.

“Sonia Gandhi has shown improvement from infection and has no fever on Friday . She is responding to antibiotics and has restarted her physiotherapy rehabilitation for shoulder,” the hospital said.

69-year-old Gandhi has been undergoing treatment at the private hospital for the last 10 days after taking ill during a roadshow in Varanasi. On Thursday, the doctors treating her had advised her to extend her stay in the hospital by a few days as she was running fever.

She had undergone a surgery on her left shoulder on August 3 and doctors said she almost recovered from the injury.

Gandhi was shifted to the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital from the Army Research and Referral Hospital, where she was rushed soon after her arrival from Varanasi around midnight of August 2.

The Congress president had to cut short her roadshow in Varanasi after she was taken ill. She had fractured her left shoulder during the roadshow.
