Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) bomb expert Syed Abdul Karim Tunda was pronounced guilty in 1996 Sonipat bomb blast case on Monday by a court in Haryana.

The quantum of sentence to the case will be announced on Tuesday.

On December 28, 1996, a series of blasts were triggered in a cinema hall at Sonipat which left several people injured.

CBI has charged Tunda for organising LeT’s major terror attacks in India.

Delhi Police had arrested Tunda, a resident of Pikhuwa in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad district, from Indo-Nepal border in 2013.

According to police Tunda, an aide of India’s most wanted Dawood Ibrahim, is alleged to be involved in at least 40 bomb blasts in Mumbai, Delhi, Uttar Pradesg, Haryana, Punjab, Hyderabad and Surat.

He is wanted in at least 21 cases in Delhi alone.

Tunda was earlier arrested in 1994, but had managed to escape to Dhaka. He was trained to make improvised explosive devices in Bangladesh and Pakistan.
