Family of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper who died fighting militants in Srinagar has refused to accept compensation of Rs 5 lakh offered by the Bihar government on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old CRPF jawan Mujahid Khan’s last rites with honour was performed at Bhojpur’s Piro village. He was killed fighting the Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists in Srinagar on Monday.
The villagers and relatives of the slain CRPF trooper were furiated because no Minister, senior government representative or the local MLA or MP was present at his funeral services.
“We have denied the offer. It is not about money it is about respect and equality,” said the slain CRPF jawan’s elder brother Imtiyaz Khan.
The brother added that his brother did not die after consuming desi-liquor. “He died serving the nation, fighting terrorists and the Bihar government is comparing his supreme sacrifice with that of desi-liquor victims by offer Rs 5 lakhs,” added Imtiyaz.
He further said, “For the similar duty, why is there a difference. Family members of an army personnel gets Rs 11 lakh.”
Bhojpur district magistrate Shashank Shubhankar told the media that he met the family to give the cheque but they refused to accept it.
“I have informed my seniors about the development and waiting for further orders,” said Shubhankar.
