The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) on Tuesday launched the IRCTC Rail Connect App that aims at enabling faster ticket booking for railway passengers across India. The IRCTC Rail Connect App is touted as more user-friendly and faster.

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu launched the new IRCTC Rail Connect App at an event in New Delhi.

The new app comes with several new features while the existing ones in the previous app have also been retained.

IRCTC Rail Connect App is equipped with latest technology. The previous app was named ‘IRCTC Connect’ and now it will be called ‘IRCTC Rail Connect’. The new app will facilitate booking of train tickets in an easier and faster way, a senior Railway Ministry official said.

The new ticketing App will be based on next generation e-ticketing system. It will be synchronised with the ticketing website (www.irctc.co.in) also, which is presently missing in the current system.

All the Railway travellers will continue to be able to search and book train tickets, check their existing reservations or cancel them, and also get upcoming journey alerts in the new application.

IRCTC Rail Connect will retain the passenger details for the recently-booked tickets so that they don’t have to enter their details again and again.
