Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was praised by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for his initiative to plant approximately six crore saplings along the Narmada River in order to protect it.
Swaraj, in a series of tweets said that the initiative to conserve “mother Narmada” will inspire protection of environment globally. “My heartiest congratulations to Shivraj Singh Chouhan ji for unprecedented success of the initiative,” she said.
A sapling of a Kadamb tree was planted at Amarkantak University on her behalf, the external affairs minister tweeted. “I am thankful to the vice-chancellor of the University for choosing sapling of ‘Kadamb’ which was a favourite tree of Lord Krishna,” she said.
