A suspected militant was gunned down by the security forces during an anti-militancy operation in south Kashmir's Anantnag district on Thursday, army said.

"In an anti-militancy operation in Dooru area, a terrorist has been killed," an army official said.

The latest encounter came two days after an attack on an army camp in Nagrota that left two officers and five jawans dead.

Earlier in the day, BSF personnel found a tunnel that was used for infiltration by militants near the International Border in Samba sector.

Confirming the discovery, BSF IG DK Upadhyaya said that such rat hole-like tunnels are used only once as they are dug under the open sky.
