Uttar Pradesh Police detained five minors in connection to the attack on Swiss couple in Agra that left them with broken bones.

Senior superintendent of police (Agra) Amit Pathak said, "All the detained seem to be minors. During questioning they have accepted to their crime. One is absconding, who probably is also a minor.”

The SSP added that raids are being carried out to detain the absconding.

They have been charged under the Indian Penal Code sections 323 — causing voluntarily hurt and 325 — causing grievous hurt.

The couple is going through a medical treatment in a hospital in Delhi. The doctors of the hospital told the media that the duo injured have suffered grievous injuries but are recovering

On Wednesday Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had seeked the Uttar Pradesh government a report in connection to an attack on Swiss couple.

According to reports, the Swiss couple was chased and hit with sticks and stones in the ancient city of Fatehpur Sikri, around 40 kilometers from Agra on Sunday. The Uttar Pradesh police has arrested a suspect of an attack.

The Agra Police said that Quentin Jeremy Clerc, 24, has suffered a skull fracture and his girlfriend Marie Droz, 24, has suffered with broken bones in the attack.

According to Fatehpur Sikri police station in-charge Pradeep Kumar, the Swiss couple was attacked by locals when after they were sighted walking along train tracks.

Kumar further added that the duo did not want to lodge a complaint but they took suo motto and lodged the complaint.

Fatehpur Sikri, was the capital of the Mughal empire between 1572 and 1585 during the reign of Emperor Akbar.
