Hours after External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj asked for detail report of the attack on Swiss couple in Agra from Uttar Pradesh government, Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav targeting the UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asked about the anti-romeo squads on Thursday.
During a press conference Yadav asked, “What happened to the anti-romeo squad.”
According to reports, the Swiss couple was chased and hit with sticks and stones in the ancient city of Fatehpur Sikri, around 40 kilometers from Agra on Sunday. The Uttar Pradesh police has arrested a suspect of an attack.
The Agra Police said that Quentin Jeremy Clerc, 24, has suffered a skull fracture and his girlfriend Marie Droz, 24, has suffered with broken bones in the attack.
According to Fatehpur Sikri police station in-charge Pradeep Kumar, the Swiss couple was attacked by locals when after they were sighted walking along train tracks.
Targeting the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government he said, “Since BJP government came in the state there has been an unprecedented rise in cases of crime and loot in the state.”
The Yogi-led government in March had formed a anti-Romeo squad to curb eve-teasing incidents in the state. However, the police squad soon after its formation came into controversy as police personnel in civil clothes were reported to harass love birds and engaged in moral policing.

According to reports published by daily locals police marched into local parks and nabbed couples and tend to shave their of heads and blackened their faces.
