Justin Fernandez, a student from the Indian Institute of Management, Nagpur, has bagged a job at a Hyderabad-based firm as an associate director with a pay package of Rs 19 lakh.
But Justin’s story is different from others, his path of success is driven by sheer determination and hard work.
His family found it extremely tough to accommodate him with every basic need and this dates back to the time he joined school.
"My grandfather was a tailor and naturally my father was drawn into the same business. But, readymade garments spelt doom for our family and several like us. There wasn't enough work and my father started finding it difficult to earn enough for our basic needs," Fernandez told a leading daily.
He added that things got so bad at one stage that they used to rely on government subsidies to fulfil their basic needs.
Fernandez also said that his family income was Rs 50,000 per annum and his aunt took care of his studies till class 12. Later scholarships helped him cover his expenses.
The 27-year-old wanted to go to IIM-Kozikhode but could not clear the entrance test in his initial attempt and got enrolled at IIM-Nagpur in the second attempt.
Justin Fernandez is set to start his journey in the corporate world soon but he dreams of becoming a sports manager one day.
