Taj Mahal controversy: Rahul Gandhi takes a dig at UP CM Yogi, says "Andher Nagari Chaupat Raja"

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi took a potshot at Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath after the BJP government dropped Taj Mahal from the booklet of Tourism department.

While referring to the chief minister, Rahul wrote on social media "Andher Nagari Chaupat Raja."

Another Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singh also echoed his voice and said:  "If it is a booklet on tourism and excludes Taj Mahal, at one level it is a joke and at another level it is tragic."

Last week, UP minister Rita Bahuguna Joshi had released the booklet that features Gorakhnath temple of which Adityanath is the head priest, but no mention of Taj Mahal.

After criticism from opposition, the state tourism department issued a press release stating that a few projects were already initiated for Taj Mahal and its adjoining areas.
