In a hear touching gesture, a nine-year-old Tamil Nadu girl gave up all her money saved for over years to a buy new cycle to help the victims of devastating Kerala floods. Anupriya, the little girl with big heart, from a small town Villupuram, donated Rs 9,000 she has been saving for over four years after watching the visuals of Kerala floods on TV.

“I had saved money (of around Rs 9000) for over four years to buy a cycle. But I saw visuals of Kerala flood on televisions and decided to give the money,” she told reporters.

The gesture by the little Anupriya moved Hero Cycles – India’s premier cycle manufacturer and the company decided to reward her for the “gesture to support humanity”. The company announced that it will gift a new cycle to her.

Hero Motors Chairman and managing director Pankaj Munjal also ailed Anupriya as a “noble soul” and promised to give her one bike every year of her life.

“Anupriya, pranam to you. You are a noble soul and wish you spread the good around. Hero is too pleased to give you one bike every year of your life. Pl share your contact on my account. Love you and best wishes. Prayers for Kerala,” Munjal wrote on Twitter.

Congress leader and parliamentarian from Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram, Shashi Tharoor, thanked the company for donating a bicycle to the girl.

“Thanks to HeroCycles for donating a bicycle to a 9-year-old girl who gave up all that she was saving for a cycle to help the victims of the #KeralaFloods,” Tharoor said in a tweet.

The southern state of Kerala is battling with the century's worst flooding due to incessant monsoon rains. So far, over 350 people have lost their lives and lakhs rendered homeless. Several states along with foreign countries - UAE and Qatar had extended helping hands to the people of flood-ravaged Kerala.
