The Tejas Express which will have various modern facilities onboard like LED TV and tea/coffee vending machine will be flagged off from Mumbai to Goa on May 22.

The train will have modern facilities like smoke and fire detection system, bio-vacuum toilets and GPS-based passenger information display system. CCTV cameras will also be there in the 19-coach train.

While inspecting the new Tejas coach in New Delhi, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu told that because the train has all the better facilities, the fare of the train will be slightly higher as compared to normal mail/express service.

Comfortable seating arrangements will be there in the train and LED TV will be provided with each seat and the TV will have a touch control system. Call bell facilities will also be provided.

The train is manufactured at Kapurthala’s Rail Coach Factory. Automatic entrance door will be provided in the coaches and this will be the first in non-suburban train in Indian Railways.

There will be tea and coffee vending machines and snack tables at each coach as catering facility for passengers in the new designed coaches.

As was promised in the budget, Tejas Express will also provide service in Delhi-Chandigarh and Delhi-Lucknow sectors, according to the railways.
