The Telangana state government has decided to take up a census of backward class population in the state. The decision regarding the census was taken on Friday at the Telangana cabinet meeting.

“To take up the census of BC population in the state at once,” a release from the office of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who chaired the cabinet meeting, said.

An eye-testing scheme for the citizens of Telangana would also be launched across the state on 15th August, it said.

The state cabinet also approved the placement of special officers in place of those heads of gram panchayats, whose term was coming to an end soon, it added.

As per the release, all recognised political parties would be allotted land that is not exceeding one acre at the rate of Rs 100 per yard for development of party offices and property tax would be exempted from the party offices.  

Land allotment to TRS party in 29 districts for constructing party offices in district headquarters has been approved, it said.

A total of 119 new schools, one per Assembly segment would be established in addition to the existing residential schools for the backward classes in the state of Telangana.
