Ten flights diverted from Delhi airport due to low visibility

Ten flights have been diverted from Delhi airport on Monday morning due to unexpected fog, an airport official said. "These ten flights have been diverted from Delhi airport between 7.45 am and 9.10 am," the official said.

Out of ten flights, one was international and nine others were domestic, the Delhi international airport authority (DIAL) said.

"The visibility today has been low.... Nine domestic flights and one international flight has been diverted from Delhi airport due to low visibility," the official added.

According to a report in Hindustan Time, pilots of the domestic flights that were diverted were not trained to handle the onboard CAT III B for landing in low visibility.

At Delhi, the minimum runway visibility required for take-off is 125 metres. Fog disrupting flight operation is something very common in the month of January but it is very rare in March.
