The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday continuing its crackdown on separatists conducted raids at offices of Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s lawyer and a suspect named Devinder Singh Behl in connection with terror funding.Â
The lawyer is considered very close to hardline separatist leader Geelani and his foreign visits are under the scanner of NIA. The probe agency will also question him soon, reported news agency PTI.
The agency has also raided the residence of another suspect Devinder Singh Behl in terror funding case.
NIA recovered 4 mobile phones, one tablet, electronic devices, incriminating documents & financial papers from Devinder Singh Behl's residence in Jammu.
In a related development, the NIA also issued summon to Naseem, the second son of Geelani, who heads separatist conglomerate Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, to appear before the agency on Wednesday.
Earlier, the NIA had issued summons to Geelani's elder son Nayeem, asking him to appear before it for questioning on in connection with its probe in the terror funding case which names a Pakistan-based chief of Jamaat-ul-Dawah, the front of another proscribed outfit Lashker-e-Taiba (LeT), Hafiz Saeed, as an accused.
The NIA has also named separatist organisations such as the Hurriyat Conference (factions led by Geelani and Mirwaiz Farooq), Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) and all-woman outfit Dukhtaran-e-Millat in its FIR.
It is for the first time since the rise of militancy in the early 1990s that a central probe agency has conducted raids in connection with the funding of terrorist and separatist groups.
