At least one jawan was killed and 8 were injured when terrorists attacked a SSB patrol party near a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp in Zakura, outskirts of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, reports said. According to reports, the militants opened fire at around six vehicles of the SSB patrol party. The attack comes 2 days after the Pampore encounter.

Two militants were killed in a 56-hour gunbattle between terrorists and security forces in Pampore. The terrorists were holed up in a government building on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.
The tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated after the September 29 surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army across the LoC in reply to the Uri terror attacks, which had left 18 Indian army soldiers martyred.
