Army Chief General Bipin Rawat has confirmed the reports that the terrorist hide outs and camps destroyed by Indian Air Force strikes in Balakot have been re-activated by Pakistan. He said there about 500 terrorist there trying to infiltrate. However, Indian Army has taken necessary mesures to curb infiltration.

"Pakistan violates ceasefire to push terrorists into our territory. We know how to deal with ceasefire violations. Our troops know how to position themselves and take action. We are alert and will ensure that maximum infiltration bids are foiled," he said.

General Rawat, speaking in Chennai, also said that there was a communication breakdown between terrorists in the Kashmir Valley and their handlers in Pakistan but there is no communication breakdown between people to people.

The Army chief also called for preachers to convey the correct meaning of Islam.

"I feel the interpretation of Islam by some elements who possibly want to create disruption is being fed to large number of people. I think it is important we have preachers who convey the correct meaning of Islam," he said.

Earlier, talking to Economic Times, General Rawat said that Army has war-gamed any possible action in Pakistan occupied Kashmir and has accordingly made plans for it.

Rawat said Pakistan will avoid a conventional war with India because it does not have adequate capabilities for it. He added it will instead continue to increase its proxy war against India.

Earlier this month, Rawat had said the Army was always ready for any action in PoK, should the government pass orders for it.
