Terrorists on Tuesday attacked a CRPF convoy at KP Road near General Bus Stand in Anantnag of South Kashmir. According to the latest updates, five jawans were martyred and one terrorist was killed, reported ANI. The initial information suggests that some CRPF jawans are critically injured in the attack. SHO Saddar Police Station Irshad also received a bullet injury in his chest and was taken to a hospital from where doctors referred him to Srinagar. Some CRPF personnel and a woman were also injured in the attack by terrorists. Latest reports suggest two masked terrorists are involved in the attack.

Earlier, a Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist was on Saturday killed in an encounter with security forces in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, a police official said.

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Verinag area of the south Kashmir district following specific information about the presence of militants there, the official said.
He said the search operation turned into an encounter after the militants fired on the security forces, who retaliated.
In the exchange of fire, one Jaish terrorist was killed, the official said, adding his identity was being ascertained.
Incriminating material including arms and ammunition was recovered from the site of the gun-battle, he said.
